ACCESS (Alliance for Collaborative Change in School Systems) is a partnership between SFUSD and the University of California at Berkeley's Lawrence Hall of Science to help middle schools build their capacity to prepare students for academic success in high school. ACCESS staff work with teachers and administrators to improve curricula, instruction, and assessment practices in mathematics, language arts, and social studies, and to make the organizational changes needed to support an improved climate for teaching and learning. The UC Berkeley School of Education's Academic Talent Development Program runs a summer school and other activities to bring many of our high school students to the Berkeley campus to make them more aware of and comfortable in the University environment.
